Here is a brief guide on how to take measurements:

SHOULDER TO SHOULDER

Instruct your friend to place the end of the measuring tape at the place where your shoulder meets the top of your arm, or, the boniest part of your shoulder. From there, holding the tape taut, they should stretch the tape straight across to the tip of your other shoulder blade. The measurement is your shoulder width.

BUST

To measure your bust, you should measure underneath your armpits around your chest. Hint: measure over the fullest part of your chest to get an accurate size.

WAIST

To measure your waist, you should measure your natural waistline. Place the measuring tape below your rib cage and above your belly button at the smallest part of your waist. Be sure to stand up straight and relax your stomach so that you get a true measurement.

HIPS

To measure your hips, stand with your feet together and wrap the tape around your hips and the roundest part of your rear. Be sure to keep the measuring tape straight or you may get an incorrect measurement!

UPPER ARM

Measure the circumference of your arm. Wrap the tape measure around the widest part of your upper arm from front to back and around to the start point. 

ARM LENGTH

Measure from the place where your shoulder meets the top of your arm to your wrist bone. Always slightly bend the elbow when measuring to allow for extra ease. If you do not do this your sleeve length will be short because the natural position of your arm is slightly bent.

OUTSIDE LEG

Stand up or lie down with your legs completely straight. Take a tape measure and place the top on your waist (narrowest point of your waist), take measurement from that point until floor.
